Numerous, sea green spherules of Pyromorphite are nicely grouped on this miniature from an unusual Chinese locality. We have seen half a dozen locality attributions on Western labels, but our sources tell us that this is indeed from this "area" of several interconnected mines. Some labels even give these a locality in other provinces, but they are seemingly genuine Hunan pyromorphites. The translucent, satin lustered rounded aggregates of Pyromorphite are composed of numerous, tightly bunched, small crystals and a loupe reveals tiny, less than 1 mm, completely transparent, hexagonal prismatic crystals in between the spherules. The rounded aggregates have good separation and vary between 3 mm and 1.2 cm across. They are hosted on a thin slab of matrix that is highlighted by thin veneer of Goethite on the underside. An attractive and unusual locality piece.
