This is literally the classic "Ram's Horn" Gypsum growth that collectors have seen occur, rarely, from only a few other major Gypsum specimen deposits from time to time. However, such specimens are more often seen from Morocco or China (Guizhou), and almost never occur at this size and perfection from other locations - a Greek locality is especially surprising. This piece, 4 inches across, has not only a great and pure color, but a nice sparkle to it. It looks like it is coated in glitter and glows in the light. It has just enough matrix for balance and contrast but not too much to unbalance the growth atop. It is durable, not fragile, and can be more easily handled than most similar but more gracile Moroccan specimens I have seen. It can, with care, be shipped (although hand-delivery would be preferred). Gypsum is common enough in fanciful shapes and swirls, to be sure. But there is something special about this particular style, and we loved seeing one from such an unusual locality. Found in 2016, obtained from the collectors, and in the Spiromitros collection until 2022.
