The location at Poggio Balate in Sicily has produced highly sought after Fluorites having a dark blue coloration, however color variations have been found. This piece is one of those examples from this 2019 - 2020 lot. While the intergrown cubic Fluorite crystals in this piece have a similar satin luster with typical white to off-white centers, the outer Fluorite phase has unusually colored sky blue phantoms. The color combinations give the piece a graceful appearance resting on the contrasting white matrix. The largest cube on the top right is 2.0 x 1.9 x 1.7 cm. There is contacting noted on the back and lower right that is not unusual for these specimens. The sharp transparent to translucent cubes on the display side are in great condition. It also has purple fluorescence in UV lighting. The blue hue varies depending on lighting but shows it’s most brilliant color under cool LED lights. An uncommon fluorite with an unusual color variation.
