Is it a Garnet or is it a Tourmaline?! If anyone were handed this crystal and asked to determine what the mineral was they may have a difficult time choosing between Garnet or Tourmaline! Sometimes in the mineral world Tourmalines can lead us astray by their equant habit and they look very much like a Garnet as this one does. It almost looks like a Uvarovite Garnet due to its saturated, deep, bright green color. It is translucent and has numerous, tiny, flashing green internal reflections. Bill Larson picked this one up on one of his many journeys to Burma in the late 1990s. The crystal is quite sharp with only a minor amount of rubbing on the edges and the faces have great luster. The base has only a minor contact as there are still complete faces there; it's nearly a floater! 3.29 grams.
