Here is a deeply colored, well-formed, straw-yellow Sapphire from Burma (Myanmar) of unusual color and size combination. This large, 3.9 cm crystal displays the classic crystal habit of Sapphire with a tapered, pyramidal termination at one end, for strong vertical display as I would display it. (and the other end also tapers, but is unterminated, probably due to the fact that it is slightly water worn and was transported either in alluvial deposit ot simply as it was recovered). It is highly translucent, with a slightly water-worn surface that still more than preserves the crystal faces and edge. It retains a very good luster and when even minimally backlit, glows with color. It fluoresces a reddish-orange in long wave UV. Standing up, with a bit of light, you see the nice yellow color and sharp tip. This is a an aesthetic, unusual specimen of Burmese Sapphire with a mass of 9.42 grams. Yellow is actually fairly rare, here, makin this a more significant specimen than a comparably sized blue, in rarity if not in value.
