Here is an excellent and rare example of dark-colored Chalcedony from this little known locality in Brazil that produces some very unusual and very beautiful material! This splendid cabinet specimen features numerous, elongate botryoidal forms of Chalcedony that vary from 1 to 5 cm in length and average of 1.5 cm across. The Chalcedony has a rich, translucent, burnt amber color that is more apparent along the periphery of the piece and shows a more orange hue revealing how splendid the color is. There is a very fine-grained off-white film between some of the botryoids that highlights their form and is more prevalent in some areas more than others. The bottom of the piece shows where it was cleanly removed from the flat surface it was attached to. A very sculptural and super attractive piece from this rare Brazilian locality that is from both the Luis Menezes and Alvaro Lucio collections.
