Like a pair of rabbit ears, this distinctive and dramatic pair of Amethyst crystals from Guerrero have great color, perfect form and excellent aesthetics. The two main crystals measure 9 and 8 cm, respectively and both have phantoms of a rich, almost grape purple in the center followed by a lighter colored purple phantom and then an outer nearly colorless rim with just a hint of purple. Both crystals also have slightly divergent sidecar crystals at their periphery that have a similar character. Terminations are perfect on all of the crystals! The surfaces have a faint satin-like luster that gives a softness to the specimen that adds even more appeal. This well balanced and composed piece sits perfectly on its own. While there are bigger, gemmier, more purple, and many more expensive examples from here, this piece just has a poised aesthetic that makes it stand out. It seems, form the style, to be older material from the 1970s and early 1980s. ex Richard Rossi collection.
