This is a very sculptural Descloizite specimen, a killer miniature dominated by divergent sprays of relatively large Descloizite crystals from the classic Berg Aukas Mine in Namibia, the best locality in the world for the species! The piece consists of numerous, elongated, bronze-red, lustrous, fan-like aggregates of Descloizite to nearly 2 cm in size. These super-sharp, super lustrous, spearpoint-shaped crystals are well terminated and have no damage, and are of exceptional quality. There are at least two dozen showy crystals that make up this cluster. Most Descloizite pieces we see are dark colored maybe with a hint of red and perhaps a moderate luster, but this one is richly colored and bright; its form is both exquisite and artistic! It is one of the finest miniatures of this material we have seen, and dates to the 1960s. This comes with an old label noting "tsumeb" as was common in those days, when minerals from Grootfontein were sold by dealers in Tsumeb to foreigners, and mislabelled.
