Quartz with Rutile and Hematite "star" inclusions

This sphere of quartz is richly included with sharp, isolated, detailed clusters of rutile "stars" shooting out of hematite centers. It is so clean and crisp, you can see every detail within! While this material is not uncommon in mediocre quality, this is a spectacular specimen because of the arrangement within with separable crystals instead of a jumble because of the shocking clarity and the ease of view. However, what is most interesting is that these do not just float in a void of space, but that the sphere preserves bits of matrix as well, from which they grew out from, on the bottom... all like a frozen garden scene. It is incredible that something like this could form! The inclusions must have literally broken off the matrix on which they grew (of rock and hematite) and floated up within quartz as molten quartz violently and quickly filled the previous pocket and perhaps dissolved the original matrix within, leaving these "floaters" as survivors within the cooling crystallized quartz from which this was cut. It is truly so sparkly, it is a jewel... a very special piece. 383 grams. This came out of a very high-level sphere collection assembled over decades.
