Hinsdalite pseudomorph after Pyromorphite

An uncommon specimen of light yellow-white Pyromorphite crystals showing areas pseudomorphed to yellow Hinsdalite from the Zeehan Queen mine in Tasmania, Australia. The mine lies about 12 km inland from the west coast of Tasmania and approximately two thirds up. The mine takes its name from the nearby town of Zeehan, only about 1.5 km to the east of the mine. It is possible that the Hinsdalite, a hydrated lead-aluminium phosphate sulphate, is actually Plumbogummite. The Hinsdalite pseudomorphs were originally identified by the Mineralogical Record, but this has since been questioned. Hinsdalite and Plumbogummite are very similar in composition, with the sulphate (SO4) being replaced by a phosphite (PO3) anion in Plumbogummite. Technicalities aside, it is a super example.
