Description
A really different sort of specimen from Cornwall, England, in terms of both mineral associated habits and a polished face revealing the interior! From the famous Levant mine at Trewellard near St Just, a large tapering block of opaque milky Quartz veinstone is longitudinally bisected by a band of zig-zagging band of purple Amethyst following phantom crystal boundaries. The narrow end is cleaved, so revealing the Amethyst while the opposite broad end has been sawn and polished. The surrounding faces of the Quartz are almost entirely encrusted with bright lustrous, well developed 2 to 3 mm crystals of black Goethite. An interesting, unusual and quite aesthetic cabinet specimen of Goethite, Quartz and Amethyst from Levant.
