This is a truly gorgeous specimen of lustrous orangey-scarlet Crocoite crystals sat on small acicular deep leaf-green to lime-green Pyromorphite crystals from Berezovskii in the Middle Urals of Russia. This is the type locality for the lead chromate Crocoite. The Crocoite and Pyromorphite crystallise along the central cavity of a milky-Quartz vein; the Quartz of which is pervaded with iron oxides which lend great character to the specimen. The colour of the Crocoite is stunningly beautiful, verging on brilliant scarlet-red, a colour not often seen in minerals, with crystals averaging about 0.8 to 1 cm across. The specimen sits well and the contrast between the scarlet, vivid green and milky white matrix would stand out in any cabinet. The specimen comes with an old simple handwritten label, with foxing.
