Description

Fluorapatite (bi-color) with Cleavelandite, Dara-e-Pech pegmatite field, Dara-e-Pech District, Kunar, Afghanistan

6 cm tall x 7 cm wide

Fluorapatite is found in several colors, purple being the most sought after. This specimen from a remote and mountainous region of Afghanistan consists of a group of intergrown crystals of tabular form with a rich indigo purple exterior shading into a golden yellow center and white cleavelandite attached to the back. To find an example that is a true defined bicolor like this piece is extremely rare. This fluorapatite was found in 2021 in a small pocket with less than a dozen additional crystals. It is the largest and finest from the discovery.

Known provenanceKnowing where your specimen comes from and who owned it adds to its story and value. Good provenance helps prove it's authentic and preserves important details about its discovery.
