Rutile
Yellow needles in epitaxial growth on black hematite tablets (maximum size 4.6 cm) on a plate of tuff, with the terminations of some needles covered with hyalite. The vein discovered by miners who were mainly looking for quartz was a narrow 7 meters long lode whose walls were lined with hematite and rutile. By making their way through it, the miners destroyed most of the rutile as it clang to their clothes. This plate is one of the very few survivors of this discovery.
