A sharp, large, indigo-blue sapphirine crystal from Ft. Dauphin, Madagascasr. The moderately lustrous, two-sided crystal is nearly pristine. The embedded matrix is a nice accent. Sapphirine is a rare silicate, named for the blue color allusion and shape of sapphire. Highly representative of the species and locale. Ex. Dick Jones Collection and dating from the 1960s or 70s.
