Galkhaite is a very rare cesium, thallium, mercury sulfosalt and this is an excellent thumbnail example. Lustrous, gemmy, dark blood-red galkhaite crystals are richly scattered on the vuggy matrix from the Getchell Mine of Nevada. The largest crystals, to 2 mm, are very attractively concentrated at the top, center of the specimen. This piece is from small finds in the late 1970s stashed until recent years by the mine geologist.
