Superb, translucent, lathelike crystals of alamosite make the bulk of this specimen, which is a major thumbnail example of the species and, aside from a few freak specimens, is of a pretty good quality as well. The black specks are melanotekite, though there may also be other minerals in association here which I am not identifying. Alamosite in good crystals is one of the more uncommon of Tsumeb rarities, and seldom seen for sale (at any price, but usually very high, when priced). From an old German collection, such pieces are rarely seen on the market today.
