This is a substantial and absolutely stunning 1-kilogram crystallized Hematite from Ouro Preto with ridiculous quality of luster to the front faces! At just over four inches across this large "iron rose" is beautifully formed with silvery-black metallic crystals that have a mirror-like luster and hexagonal form. The large crystal at the rear of the piece is composed of numerous, stacked crystals in very tight parallel growth that ever so slightly taper inward, creating an almost rounded edge along the periphery of the piece for artistic perfection and distinction. There is a series of other Hematite crystal composites in parallel or near parallel growth on the face of the large crystal that provide additional geometric complexity. Some of these have a slight concave curvature to them creating the "iron rose" form. Complete all around and only contacted at the bottom where there is a flat attachment site to where it grew (so it is a floater, complete all around). A large and very aesthetic Hematite from Brazil or any locality - especially considering the size! Recovered in late 2023. 1075 grams.
