A superb gem Epidote from this classic European locality that is still treasured today. Most of those that are currently available are from old finds from the 1800s with some coming from current era pockets. This looks like the older style and size and is a completely gem, two inch crystal that is three-quarters of an inch wide and a quarter inch thick. The lustrous, broad prism faces are lightly striated and it has a slanted termination. This gem crystal shows distinct pleochroic color change from super dark green to medium brown-green when rotated in front of a computer screen! From the Dr. Giancarlo Fioravanti collection and likely an old piece from the 1800s. It has glassy luster even without light, but glows transparent with even minimal backlighting!
