Ruby is always a standout in a collection for the combination of deep red color and waxy luster of the typical crystals. This one is a very pretty cluster of maroon-red, highly lustrous crystals from an unusual locale - the Pailin District in Cambodia. The crystals are very well-developed, translucent, with finely striated faces that add even more to the shiny luster. The two largest crystals are 1.3 and 1.1 cm long and the largest one is doubly terminated! An excellent Ruby thumbnail with great good aesthetics and composition! From the extensive worldwide corundum collection of Will Heierman. There is a strong bright red fluorescence in long-wave UV.
