This is a big, beautiful, eye-catching and very consequential Hematite crystal from ANY locality; but it happens to be from the famous iron mines in Ouro Preto, Brazil. This significant, 1.5 kilo (1583 grams!) cabinet-size Hematite measures five inches across and nearly four inches tall! It has a stunning impact in person. The big, broad crystals are in a slightly fanned growth style with several other just slightly smaller Hematites in staggered, parallel growth; all with geometric, parallel offsets up, down and sideways on the front of the piece for great structure and composition. This dramatic piece has an elongate hexagonal outline with mirror-bright faces on the front and back, as well as sharply defined edges. A striking and large Hematite from this famous Brazilian locality that looks amazingly like material in museums and old collections from the 1960s or so. However, this is in remarkable condition for the size. Recovered in late 2023 in the first pocket of its kind in many years. These amazing and huge Hematite crystals dwarf nearly all others. But, to get one with this visual style and impact, without any major damage - that is a true rarity, elevating this to a world class Hematite specimen.
