The Milpillas Mine has arguably produced the world's best Azurites and in volume from 2010 to 2016, however, despite all of the Azurites on the market then there are few great ones like this available now, and the mine is now closed. The great ones are simply great, beautiful, and still priced more economically for the sheer quality than Azurite from anywhere else. This is a very desirable Milpillas Azurite plate of good size with high luster, great color and large crystals. The deep blue with electric blue highlights makes for a beautiful display piece even with minimal lighting. The brilliant crystals on this small cabinet piece range in size from 1 to 4 cm and it is excellent on both sides with the back sprinkled with tiny, bright green Malachite crystals. It is from the last great, large Azurite discovery often referred to as "watercourse pocket" or "tunnel pocket" for its long horizontal length. This plate is essentially a floater and complete all around except for a few possibly interpreted attachment points. It has tremendous color and very dramatic for the size and price range.
