Pyrite from Peru is one of the more common items as a mineral specimen as there are literally tons of it on the market. Within that context, special pieces like this one stand out! This is a very cool, highly unusual floater crystal that is complete all around with a crystallographic shape and geometry that we struggle to explain and describe. It is elongated, complex and beautiful with at least cube, octahedron and probably pyritohedral faces present. It's three times as tall as it is wide! It has textbook Pyrite color and metallic luster! The 2 cm sidecar crystal on the piece shows striated cube faces and beveling octahedral faces. This came out long ago, probably early 2000s, and is from the personal family collection of the Ramos family, a multigenerational family of dealers based in Lima.
