This is a broad, very reflective, silver-gray, hexagonal-shaped Hematite "iron rose" style of hematite normally not seen from Brazil and more familiar from Alpine cleft deposits in the Swiss and Russian Alps! This is a non-Alpine type occurrence for these lovely Hematites, as most occur in high mountain environments from other locations; and this is a very good and very attractive example for the locality. This miniature consists of larger, prominent Hematite blades in parallel, divergent growth and then several smaller groups of crystals in the center (1 cm) and at either side on the bottom (1.5 and 1 cm) at the bottom. The piece is essentially a complete, slightly elongated hexagon with only trivial edge wear at the periphery. Just a beautiful Hematite miniature from this well known locality of a classic old style not seen in a long time.
