Tucson, Arizona, USAMagnificent, individual sharp octahedral Magnetite crystals are richly scattered across the surface of a quartz-mica schist from the beautiful Binn Valley in Wallis, Switzerland. This good-size cabinet specimen has an 18.3 x 9.6 cm display face dotted with about 60 Magnetite crystals of which at least 16 are over 5 mm on edge and range from 1 mm to about 8 mm on edge, the largest measuring about 1 cm point to point. They form coal-black, perfectly equant octahedral crystals with a mirror-like lustre. Scattered between these crystals are tiny terminated colourless Adularia (Orthoclase) crystals; colourless to ferruginous-yellow Quartz crystals and many delightful micro orange-red Rutile crystals (sub-mm to 2 mm), with more the equant habit of garnet than rutile. A superb display specimen from the Binn Valley. Please note that an additional postage and packing charge may have to be applied due to this specimen's size.
