As a big Pyromorphite fan this specimen brings back a few memories. As a teenager during the 1990s, this material from Bunker Hill Mine, Kellogg, Shoshone Co., Idaho, USA was coming through to the British collectors market and I managed to obtain a specimen. Very distinctive in form, this material has a passing resemblance to Campylite (a variety of Mimetite) from Dry Gill mine in the Caldbeck Fells, Cumbria, England. However, there are subtle differences. This highly lustrous orange botryoidal Pyromorphite has a distinctive paler crystal druse on the surface and always lacks the black manganese oxides so reminiscent of Dry Gill mine. This large miniature Bunker Hill mine specimen displays the bi-colour very well and has a wonderful greasy lustre. Classic Bunker Hill material and nice that it is a solid layer of Pyromorphite, rather than a thin crust.
