Tucson, Arizona, USAA fabulous cabinet display specimen of mushroom-like, intergrown botryoidal, deep bottle green Malachite from the classic Bisbee mining district in Arizona. Partly developed around the circular botryoidal mounds is lighter, emerald green crystallised Malachite. The edges of the specimen have a superb banded, fibrous radial texture with a bright silky lustre. A discontinuous blue band of Azurite has formed between the Malachite and the underside of the specimen, which shows partial Goethite replacement of an unknown rhombic mineral, overgrown by Malachite. A rich and highly aesthetic Malachite from this most famous of copper mining districts. It’s unusual and a thing of great beauty.
