Pseudomalachite with Quartz
Unknown Owner
A very rich specimen of Pseudomalachite, probably from Old Gunnislake mine, Cornwall and from an old British collection. The matrix of Quartz crystals is heavily invested with light to mid-bluish green, minutely botryoidal Pseudomalachite. Specimens of this size or richness are very seldom seen from this mine. A distinctive old label with a blue patterned border is glued to the base, numbered "30". It reads "Quartz Breccia cemented by Lunnite, Cornwall". Lunnite was a name sometimes used collectively to include the related copper phosphates, including Pseudomalachite.
