A majestic and sparkling pair of colourless transparent to translucent Quartz crystals (the largest 11 cm tall) preferentially coated with Pyrite and Siderite from the Panasqueira mine in Covilha, Portugal. Panasqueira is a large tin-tungsten mine which has been operating since 1898 and is a world-famous locality renowned for it amazing diversity of showy specimens. The Pyrite and Siderite coatings almost completely cover four of the six prism faces of the larger crystal, with each face being a different colour. Brassy gold, micro cubic crystals of Pyrite coat one face followed by a more mellow buttery golden Pyrite on the next. There then follow faces encrusted with micro-crystals of pale tan Siderite. Interestingly, the base of the Quartz crystal has re-healed and is also coated with Siderite and Pyrite. A most attractive association specimen with beautiful spectral internal reflections from the amazing Panasqueira mine.
