Description
A stunning, large, museum quality cabinet display specimen, of Allenheads mine Fluorite with a characteristic partial overgrowth of Siderite along crystal edges. This specimen exudes class, displaying large (to over 25 mm on edge) individual, and some twinned cubic crystals. The crystals are glossy and bright, and display internal frosting that is common in specimens from Allendale. Very few specimens of this quality are known from Allenheads mine. In some respects, the Fluorite colour, and association with Siderite is similar to the nearby St. Peter's mine, but this assemblage was also found, albeit rarely, in Allenheads mine. There is no obvious damage, just a superb, large display of Northumberland Fluorite from across the hills from the more famous Weardale mines.
