Malachite ps. after Azurite with Dolomite

Unknown Owner
Oh what a cliché it is to begin by stating this is one of the most unusual Malachite pseudomorphs after Azurite I have ever seen from Tsumeb; but I have to say it is. To paraphrase CJ from Reggie Perrin, I didn't get where I am today by quoting false clichés concerning Tsumeb pseudomorphs! (probably more a joke for just the British readers). The pseudomorphs are sharp and precise, clean-cut and replace slender, almost acicular former Azurite crystals, the tallest to about 1.9 cm. The Malachite is a deep yet vibrant forest green and under low magnification is seen to form micro-botryoidal surface layers over the needle-like pseudomorphs. Adding more drama to an already impressive cabinet specimen is the underlying surface coating of glassy, grey crystallised Quartz and lustrous, chocolate brown Dolomite. A very different Malachite after Azurite pseudomorph, the like of which I suspect almost no hardened collector of Tsumeb minerals will already have. That’s me sticking my neck on the line! \n
