A rich 2.5 x 1.2 cm area of bright, metallic brassy golden Native Gold forms intergrown sheets and crystalline habits from Kremnica (Kremnitz) in Žiar nad Hronom County, Banská Bystrica, Slovakia. Surrounding the Gold are later generation metallic white-golden microcrystals of Pyrite and minor brown Sphalerite on a white matrix of crystalline Quartz. The gold-silver-antimony ore deposit at Kremnica is hosted in Tertiary andesites; an extrusive igneous rock between basalt and rhyolite in composition. The complexity of the Native Gold crystals can be fully appreciated under a low power lens, these include twisted ribands of leaf Gold and hackly branching fronds.\n
