A large cabinet specimen of pale amber to mild lemon Fluorite crystals, frequently grading to translucent white frosted centres from Hilton mine in Scordale, Cumbria. The Fluorite covers both sides of a vein running centrally through the middle of the specimen and whose structure is visible along its outer edges. Although Fluorite does cover opposite faces, only one side is a display face. The crystals are essentially cubic, but do deviate to the elongated form of the cube, especially when twinned. The best example of this is a 1.9 x 1.5 x 1.2 cm gemmy pale lemon crystal twinned with one of similar size and displaying wonderfully in the centre of the upper edge. In direct daylight the crystals blend to a patchwork of straw, barely and pale honey and under LWUV all crystals fluoresce a subdued whiteish-purple.
