Pyromorphite
For a time, Bunker Hill mine in Coeur d'Alene District, Shoshone Co., Idaho was producing world class Pyromorphite specimens and certainly the finest in the USA. Specimens came in a number of different forms, but the greasy to waxy looking vivid orange botryoidal forms, slightly reminiscent of the English classic, Campylite (a phosphatian variety of Mimetite), were one of the most memorable. Indeed, most of the Pyromorphite from Bunker Hill mine is arsenate-rich, grading towards, but not reaching Mimetite in composition. This miniature, to large miniature specimen, shows this orange form extremely well. Beneath the glossy botryoidal crust of Pyromorphite lies shards of white vein Quartz. An American classic.
