A stunning cluster of large, richly coloured, squat Amethyst Quartz crystals from Minas Gerais, Brazil. The Amethyst crystals radiate out from a central colourless to milky Quartz core, only visible in the base. The Amethyst crystals form a Sputnik-like cluster with the largest crystal standing vertically in the centre, surrounded by smaller, but equally splendid, perfectly terminated crystals, outwardly pointing in all directions. The colour is initially a misty milky-white with hints of purple within the short prismatic stems, then grades upwards through the hexagonal sharp terminations to ever deepening shades of Royal purple, culminating with an intense Royal purple tip. The larger, central crystal is 5 cm tall from where it emerges from the surrounding crystals and measures 5.4 x 4.6 cm in cross-section. All crystals are very translucent with partly gemmy tips, mirror-smooth faces and a bright glassy lustre. A delightful structure and colour of Amethyst Quartz crystals from Minas Gerais.
