Siderite Var SPHÄROSIDERITE$750.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
Well-formed hemispheres of Siderite, the variety Spharosiderite, sit on a white Chalcedony covering a light grey volcanic matrix. This cabinet specimen is probably from one of the quarries on Mulat' Hill in the Zemplén Mountains of Hungary. The Spharosiderite forms as single hemispheres measuring to 1.2 cm diameter and as intergrown clusters of an intensely dark tan-brown nearing black. Scattered around these, over the surface of the Chalcedony are hundreds of light tan micro-crystals of Siderite which give the surface a speckled appearance. A lovely example of this rare hemispherical habit of Siderite from Erdobénye in Hungary.
