Tucson, Arizona, USAThe Kangiara mine is located in King County, New South Wales, Australia and is a lead-silver-gold mine. This is a little-known locality which produced good specimens of Pyromorphite in many colours and habits. This miniature is a mass of intergrown Pyromorphite crystals with a natural, perfectly flat base which represents one face of the vein in which it was deposited. The Pyromorphite crystals measure up to around 1 cm and often form barrel-shaped crystals which gently taper towards their flat pinacoid terminations. In general, the crystals are oily pistachio green, occasionally with powder-lemon yellow terminations. Where the Pyromorphite has developed much smaller crystals as splayed acicular fans, these tend to be coated with a similar powder-lemon yellow overgrowth of Pyromorphite. A rare example of Pyromorphite from the Kangiara mine, some 220 km SWW of Sydney.
