Description

This excellent miniature Epidote is from the Concession Morgan 3 at Coayllo in the Lima Department of Peru. An approximately 3 x 3 x 1.5 cm fine, deep leaf green Epidote crystal forms a rhombic-shaped profile emerging from a matrix of much smaller Epidote crystals, these ranging from micro to 1.3 cm. The smaller the crystal size, the lighter green the prisms become due to their better transmission of light. The contrast in colour between the large and small crystals enhance one another, making for an extremely good display piece.
