This fabulous sceptred Amethyst Quartz is from the Chiredzi mining district in Masvingo, Zimbabwe. Three double terminated Sceptre heads, each of different shades of Amethyst purple, sit vertically around a central stem of colourless Quartz, formed by a slender hexagonal Quartz crystal overgrown with glassy mm-sized Quartz crystals. The two top sceptres are rich purple Amethyst while the lower sceptre is a mix of colourless (Rock Crystal) and purple (Amethyst) Quartz. Each sceptre head has good transparency, interrupted only by the density of tadpole-like wispy inclusions and micro-granular sulphides. This splendid miniature is mounted vertically on a small colourless acrylic base.
