There is no denying when Boulder Opal is good, it is magnificent! Boulder Opal is a variety of Precious Opal found in Queensland, Australia. The Opal fills fractures in ironstone/sandstone boulders and also forms as coatings over favourable surfaces. This large cabinet specimen is a stunning example and displays a depth and intensity of colours not commonly seen in a single specimen. The Opal forms surface coatings and acts as a hard binding cement within the complexly fractured ironstone matrix, displaying rich areas on both the top and bottom of the specimen. The most stunning colours are those of intense sky, cobalt and indigo blue while smaller areas contain cream, cerise pink, emerald green and violet. This specimen is a thing of great beauty and will arrest the attention of all stop and look.
