A beautiful specimen well crystallised Pyromorphite from Kabwe mine in Central Province, Zambia. The mine was formerly named Broken Hill but is now known as Kabwe after the local town. The Pyromorphite crystals sit on top of a brick red and metallic black finely crystallised matrix. A divergent spray of acidic deep orange yellow Pyromorphite crystals to 2.8 cm tall form a V-shaped central feature. This is surrounded either side by smaller, vertically standing individual Pyromorphite crystals. The crystals have a bright glassy lustre and range from light green amber at their tips to a darker acidic amber yellow towards their bases. An excellent specimen from Kabwe mine. Please be aware this specimen contains several crystals which look to be broken but appear to have been re-healed by a secondary overgrowth of Pyromorphite. This is not established with certainty but appears to be the case.
