A superb specimen of clear to white Baryte crystals from Parkside mine close to Frizington in west Cumbria, England. Overall, the specimen measures 13 x 9 x 4 cm and the large double terminated crystal attaining 7 x 4 x 0.5 cm. The Baryte crystals are surrounded by creamy white saddle-shaped Dolomite crystals, referred to as "pear spar" by the miners at the time due to their satin to pear-like lustre. This fine cabinet specimen is ex. the Department of Mineralogy at the British Museum (Natural History), now named the Natural History Museum (London) and is accompanied with a BM(NH) label together with a highly detailed label from the previous private collector.
