A superb, aesthetic and characteristic large miniature specimen of Siderite from the Tincroft-Carn Brae mine in the parish of Illogan, Cornwall. Illogan lay between the conurbations of Camborne and Redruth, once the greatest of all Cornwall’s mining districts. Tincroft mine is famous for it beautifully crystallised Siderite and this particular example is stunning. Inter-grown crystals of translucent dark clove brown to semi-transparent, even gemmy, golden honey brown Siderite measuring to 5 mm mostly cover a bed of stubby milky Quartz crystals over a matrix of massive Hematite.
