Cerussite
Silky white sheaves and bundles of acicular Cerussite crystals, in the habit known as "Jack Straw" cover a largely hidden matrix of rusty gossan, itself likely pervaded with Cerussite crystals. This excellent small cabinet specimen is from the Flux mine in the Patagonia Mountains of Santa Cruz County, Arizona, USA, south of Tucson and about 17 km north of the Mexico border. This Zn-Pb-Cu-Ag-Au-Mn mine has produced almost thirty mineral species with Cerussite being its most aesthetic and collectable. It is a most attractive specimen because of its purity of colour, rich coverage and bright silky lustre.
