This rather delightful Amethyst Quartz is from the Wheal Remfry China Clay Pit in the civil parish of St. Enoder to the north of St Austell, Cornwall. The china clay pits of Cornwall produced a limited but beautiful suite of minerals, Amethyst being one of the most well-known. Excellent, terminated, light lilac Amethyst Quartz crystals cover all faces of a partly kaolinized Quartz veinstone, those covering the display face nestling in a shallow broad vug. Enhancing the aesthetic further, the terminations are a deeper lilac purple. This lovely small cabinet specimen comes with a Nick Carruth white stock label. Now retired, Nick was a highly respected mineral dealer who always carried an excellent selection of fine Cornish specimens.\n
