Baryte
A deliciously chunky, muddy teal blue to golden yellow and dull cherry-red Baryte from the iron mining district around the town of Frizington in West Cumbria, England. Forming a 2 cm thick slab of flat crystals, the Baryte is translucent, with one face in hues of light inky-blue and creamy-lemon and the opposite side, light lemon with very heavily tinged areas of dull cherry to light brick-red. All crystals are well terminated with flat pinacoids, smooth lustrous faces and attain widths above 2.3 cm. It’s a lovely specimen which will look great displayed, while exuding the characteristics so very much associated with the West Cumbrian Iron Orefield.
