This is simply a gorgeous, mouth-watering Elbaite Tourmaline from the Himalaya mine in San Diego County, California; a large miniature and the very personification of what a Tourmaline should look like! OK, lots of hype, but it truly is lovely with two intergrown parallel thick prismatic crystals with different and unusual terminations and of vivid candy pink and intense leafy lime green. The larger crystal measures 5.3 x 2.5 x 2.4 cm while the smaller is 4.7 x 1.6 x 1.2 cm. Both are translucent and filled internally with planer features, wisps and structural inclusions all of which scatter transmitted light. The larger prism has a triclinic bevelled termination capped with a perfect equilateral triangular pinacoid. The smaller prism is similar but with a pinacoid of only 1 mm across, making the termination appear purely pyramidal. This is a fantastic Elbaite which will stun.
