Inesite is a relatively rare calcium-manganese-iron silicate hydroxide which occurs in several of the mines at Broken Hill in New South Wales, Australia. Although the actual mine level has been recorded with this specimen (2,000 ft level), the actual mine name has not. Sprays and bowties of coral pink translucent Inesite crystals richly cover a small plate of massive Galena with a rusty brown surface coating. The Inesite is overgrown by a preferential deposition of glassy transparent and colourless Apophyllite crystals, each to 1 or 2 mm with a few similar sized crystals scattered over the matrix surface. A lovely example from Broken Hill.
