Fluorite

Riemvasmaak, in Northern Cape Province, South Africa is famous for vivid green octahedral Fluorite crystals, many of which are off-matrix. This large miniature matrix specimen is less of an octahedral crystal and more pyramid, but if anything that makes it more dramatic. A fine, 4 cm wide, translucent, to near gemmy green, pyramid-shaped crystal of Fluorite sits upon contrasting white Quartz. The colour is bright, with lustrous faces and slightly stepped triangular growth on the crystal faces. The crystal is slightly incomplete on one edge of the specimen, but from the main display direction it is perfection. A superb South African Fluorite.
