A superb miniature of light peppermint green Conichalcite from the Lavrion Mining District in the Attica Prefecture of southern Greece. This mining district famously dates back to the Classical Greek period and even way before this to about 3,200 BCE, now 5,200 years ago. Even I had not begun collecting minerals then! This choice large thumbnail is composed of 4 to 10 mm botryoidal, intergrown mounds of Conichalcite forming a most attractive nodular specimen, mushroom-like in profile. The surface texture appears almost powdery (although it is not) with a flat or matt lustre. It’s a beautiful example of the species, especially from the Lavrion district and comes mounted vertically on a small, bevelled square acrylic base. The specimen is attached with a clear ‘hot’ glue’. Such a glue can easily be removed by immersing in warm water.\n
